Policy and Coordination for Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
Rescue Response International (RRI) provides direct policy support for governments, international organizations, and international networks to support disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction (DRR) efforts. RRI is committed to doing its part to advance the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, for example providing inputs to policy, plans, and other guiding documents to prepare for disaster response. Our team is committed to supporting national governments throughout the policy and planning process, and compiles real-time reviews of response coordination mechanisms in countries where we deploy for disaster response from the NGO perspective as a contribution to broader after-action processes, as requested.
RRI is a member of several national, regional, and international networks. RRI is a member of the ACCORD Network, a community of Christian faith-based organizations and actors leveraging their combined learning in relief and development. RRI is also a member of the OCHA-led working group on Risks, Emergencies and Disasters for Latin America and the Caribbean (REDLAC), a regional coordination platform for preparedness and response to disasters. Additionally, RRI is a member of the UNDRR and WMO-led Early Warnings for All Initiative (EW4All), which is geared towards fostering global collaboration to enhance risk knowledge, monitoring, communication, and preparedness for climate-related hazards. RRI also regularly coordinates with regional groups such as the Regional Security System (RSS), Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), and with US SOUTHCOM.
In addition to working with these international networks, RRI engages directly with national governments and international organizations for policy advisory services. RRI participates in conferences and planning exercises across the region, helping partners strengthen their existing policy as it relates to disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction. RRI also provides support to regional and national-level exercises including Tradewinds and CENTAM Guardian in partnership with US SOUTHCOM.
